I have been painting from a young age when I began taking occasional adult education classes.  Though I have had no formal art education, my family has a long heritage of artists. While living in Wisconsin, I was active in the Beaux Art Club of Neillsville.  My paintings have been in shows in Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, Marshfield, and Madison as well.  I have been a Tacoma resident since 1968. I have taken some watercolor classes here and belong to the Pacific Gallery Artists as well as Rainier League of Arts.  I enjoy working in oils, watercolor, pastel, colored pencil and acrylic.  Many subjects originate from my travels and photographs throughout the years.

I have entered numerous art shows locally and received awards.  I've had exhibits at Frame Center in Tacoma, Friends gallery in Lakewood Library, Longview Library, City Hall in Enumclaw, Hospice House gallery in University Place, Gibson Gardens, Landmark CafĂ©, Steilacoom Community Center, Lakewood Raquet Club, Franke Tobey Jones, Lakewood Playhouse, Maritime Fest, tall Ship Fest, Puyallup State fair, Sandhill Crane Festival in Othello, Olympic National Park art show, Tacoma Nature Center, Fred Oldfield Heritage Center and Unitarian Church Gallery in Tacoma.  I have created murals in Southside Baptist Church and on Tacoma's McKinley Ave.

ARTIST STATEMENT
I call my work: "Celebrating the Handiwork of our Creator"
I have a great appreciation for the beauty and diversity of our world and constantly wonder at the handiwork of our Creator.  I try to incorporate some of that beauty into my work from my activities and travels.  Most of my paintings are taken from photographs while hiking, kayaking or camping, or my travels such as in China, Alaska and Puerto Rico.  Every place and living thing has its own special beauty. Some beauty is man-made and that is an expression of the unique talents that God gives to us. But the natural beauty of nature reminds me of the value our Creator has put on each of us.  So, in some small way, if I can help you look at the world around our with a renewed sense of wonder and appreciation for all our Creator has given us; I have accomplished my purpose.
